My statement for The Amargi website:
Omar Gulpi, an MP-elect from the Kurdistan Justice Group (Komal), whose party is boycotting this term over fraud allegations despite winning three seats, told The Amargi that calls for re-election are merely “pressure cards” used by the parties against each other. “Because of the partisan model where the party brandishes the gun, and institutions are controlled, elections lack real impact,” he said. Gulpi advocated using the Federal Court to compel re-elections, noting that the KRI lacks its own constitution or constitutional court to resolve such disputes.
